The “Books wanted for our men in camp” for our men in camp poster was used to encourage the donation of books for the soldiers overseas. This was published in the U.S.A during world war 1 and was designed by Charles Buckles Falls who was an author as well as an illustrator.
The poster depicts a gleeful soldier as he carries a stack of books. These books offered soldiers respite from the destitute of trench life. It is clear that the soldier is ready for action and has his books while he waits for action to come.
Charles Buckles Falls also designed numerous other posters during world war 1 and world war 2 and became widely know for the work he did in supporting the war effort. This includes numerous Marine Corps Recruitment posters.
