The “Bowl them over – More production” poster is part of a series of U.S.A World War two posters that encouraged increased productivity. Other similar posters include the “Come on gang! We’re building arms for victory!” poster and the “You knock’em out – We’ll knock em down – More Production” poster.
The moral and productivity levels of those in the factories was key to the success of the allied advance. Soldiers on the front line needed fresh supplies of food and machinery to keep the allied advance going. Therefore, a lot of effort was put into encouraging these people to keep working hard.
This particular poster portrays 3 bowling pins, all of which resemble one of the three axis of evil leaders of the time(Hitler, Mussolini and Tojo). These are being bowled over the by the large “more production” bowling ball. The poster was published in 1942 by an unknown artist and released and circulated by the war production board.
