The “I need you on the job full time…Don’t get hurt” poster was is a U.S.A World War 2 poster and was issued by the War Production Board. The War Production Boards purpose was to produce supplies and ammunition for the frontline. This poster was aimed at those who were at home working in factories and farms, the message is that to take care with the work being done at home and to be sure not to get injured. As the work at home was directly linked to soldiers like the one featured in this posters well being on the frontline.
The main protagonist is staring into the camera in full combat gear, he is obviously in a dangerous position. Over his shoulder we can see an explosion. The war production board are making a link between the perils this soldier faces and the jobs they are doing in the factory. It clearly asks the worker to not get hurt, it does not want to worker to be careless.
The poster was designed by Harry Morse Meyers, he worked as an illustrator for numerous magazines and publishing houses at the time. He is also known for designing the poster “Suppose it wont do its job?It will, thats our job“.
