The “Remember December 7th – We here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain.” poster was used during World War 2 to win support from the U.S. people to enter the war. The “Remember 7th of December” refers to the bombing of Pearl Harbour.
Questions were asked by the U.S. about joining World War 2 after the loss of American lives in World War 1. However, after the bombing of Pearl Harbour it was felt that the U.S. had to enter the war.
This along with posters such as the “Above and Beyond the call of Duty” poster were used to both recruit soldiers for the war and to encourage the support of those at home. This poster was designed by Allen Saalburg and depicts the burning of the base in the background with a tattered American flag in the foreground.
