The “I summon you to comradeship in the Red Cross” poster was designed by Harrison Fisher and was published during World War 1.
Harrison Fisher was a well known artist and illustrator during the time and often collaborated with Howard Chandler who is well know for the If you want to fight join the Marines poster which was used for Marine Corps recruitment during World War 1.
This poster was designed to recruit volunteers to the United States Red Cross and is part of a series of vintage red cross posters from the time. The image depicts a woman draped in the U.S. flag with a quote from Woodrow Wilson underneath calling on citizens to join the Red Cross. Wilson was honorary chairman of the Red Cross at the time.
World War 1 was a huge period of growth for the Red Cross and numerous recruitment and volunteerism posters were published at that time.
