The “Ha llegado España” poster means “Now Spain has arrived”, it was a nationalist or pro-Franco poster during the Spanish Civil War. It was produced by Josep Morell who was a modernist artist who lived in Spain from in 1899 to 1949.
It was produced after Franco’s armies had successfully retaken Barcelona from the communists. The lion in the foreground represents the statue of columbus at the end of las ramblas. The man in the background is making a fascist salute in celebration of the nationalist victory in Barcelona.
The meaning of now Spain has arrived can be interpreted as the bring together of all the various provinces of Spain to make it one country or “Spain”. The communist or nationalists were in favour of giving Spanish regions autonomy or even breaking the country up, this was most discussed by the Basque country and the Catalans.
